Perry Sansing<\/p><\/div>\n

OXFORD, Miss. \u2013 Perry Sansing, former assistant to the president and university counsel at Mississippi University for Women, is the new associate general counsel at the University of Mississippi. He also will serve as the chancellor’s special assistant for\u00a0governmental affairs.<\/p>\n

“The opportunity to work as an attorney and in government relations –and to do so at Ole Miss– had a strong appeal to me,” Sansing said. “Ole Miss is a successful, highly respected university and it is my alma mater. My family has deep ties to Ole Miss and Oxford.”<\/p>\n

David Sansing, UM professor emeritus of history and author of a book chronicling the history of Ole Miss, is Sansing\u2019s father.<\/p>\n

Before joining MUW 14 years ago, Sansing served as a partner in two law firms: Adams & Reese and Brunini, Grantham, Grower & Hewes, both in Jackson. He was also a law clerk for Chief Judge Charles Clark\u00a0of the U.S. Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals.<\/p>\n

“The University of Mississippi is\u00a0fortunate to have Perry Sansing join us as an attorney,” said UM Chancellor Dan Jones. “His legal expertise has been honed in both the private sector and in higher education, which we believe will enable him to do a superb job of representing the university\u2019s best interests in a variety of\u00a0situations and settings.\u201d<\/p>\n

University Attorney Lee Tyner said he is \u201cthrilled\u201d Sansing is joining the team.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe brings deep experience in public higher education,\u201d Tyner said. \u201cJust as important, Perry understands our state.\u00a0 As a part of his job at MUW, Perry worked with the Legislature and with other state agencies.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs a native of Oxford, Perry understands how important and special our relationship is with the city, so he is a perfect fit.\u201d<\/p>\n

MUW President Jim Borsig praised Sansing\u2019s work there and wished him well in his new job at Ole Miss.<\/p>\n

\u201cPerry Sansing has served The W with distinction for the past 14 years, and he\u2019s been an invaluable member of the senior leadership team,\u201d Borsig said. \u201cWe wish him continued success in his position as associate general counsel and special assistant to the Chancellor at Ole Miss, and we thank him for his many contributions to this institution.\u201d<\/p>\n

As university attorney, Sansing will provide legal advice to administrators and work to develop and enhance relations with local and state officials.<\/p>\n

“I am deeply appreciative of the opportunity to work at Ole Miss and with the leadership team in place there,” he said.<\/p>\n

Sansing earned his bachelor\u2019s degree in history and political science and his juris doctorate from UM. His articles have been published in Mississippi Civil Practice and the Mississippi Lawyer.<\/p>\n

Sansing is a member of the Mississippi Bar Association, past president of the Council of School Board Attorneys and a former member of the Mississippi Defense Lawyers Association board of directors.<\/p>\n

Sansing\u2019s civic involvements include\u00a0the Mississippi Authority for Educational Television board of directors, Mississippi EdNet Institute board of directors and past president of the Town & Tower Club of Columbus.<\/p>\n

He and his wife, the former Jeannie Hogan of Clarksdale, have two daughters: Kimberly,\u00a0a senior at Ole Miss,\u00a0and Lizzie, a senior in high school.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
