OXFORD, Miss –\u00a0College of Liberal Arts administrators have returned home to one\u00a0of the most recognized\u00a0buildings on campus — Ventress\u00a0Hall.<\/p>\n

The college’s\u00a0offices\u00a0were relocated to Lester Hall in November 2011 due to water damage caused by broken steam pipes. The offices were moved back to Ventress\u00a0at the end of the summer.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe third floor of Lester Hall was enough space for our staff,\u201d said\u00a0Glenn Hopkins, liberal arts dean.\u00a0\u201cWe certainly were on the far reaches of campus but it was not a significant hardship because we had enough space.\u201d<\/p>\n

Planning for the renovation\u00a0began in spring 2012, and the yearlong\u00a0process started in late summer 2012.<\/p>\n

Some of the major work\u00a0included repairing walls, ceilings and flooring damaged by the water and steam. Also, the elevator shaft was\u00a0rebuilt and equipped with a new elevator cab so the building is\u00a0ADA compliant, and\u00a0office space was added\u00a0on the second floor to accommodate more staff.<\/p>\n
