OXFORD, Miss. \u2013<\/strong> Six members of the Ole Miss track and field team have been recognized with All-Academic distinction by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA), the organization announced Wednesday.<\/p>\n

Men\u2019s team members Onyi Afoaku<\/a> and Dante Oliver<\/a> received the honor, along with women\u2019s team members Sofia Hellberg-Jonsen<\/a>, Jazmin Miller<\/a>, Mary Ashton Nall<\/a> and Kayleigh Skinner<\/a>.<\/p>\n

To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Team, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 and have met either of the following athletic standards: for the indoor season, a student-athlete must have finished the regular season ranked in the national top 96 in an individual event or ranked in the national top 48 (collective listing) in a relay event on the official NCAA POP list provided by TFRRS.org; for the outdoor season, a student-athlete must have participated in any round of the NCAA Division I Championships (including preliminary rounds).<\/p>\n

Hellberg-Jonsen, who boasts a perfect 4.0 grade point average as a marketing & corporate relations major, was also recently honored as a Capital One Academic All-American by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).<\/p>\n

Afoaku has a 3.62 GPA as a journalism major, while Oliver maintains a 3.30 in pharmaceutical sciences. Miller has a 3.60 in psychology, Nall a 3.56 in marketing & corporate relations and Skinner a 3.85 in journalism.<\/p>\n

On the track, Nall capped a strong season by advancing to the NCAA Outdoor Championships in the heptathlon and being named a second team All-American after she placed 14th overall.<\/p>\n

Ole Miss routinely places several athletes on the USTFCCCA\u2019s All-Academic list each year, including in 2007 when Barnabas Kirui was named the Outdoor Track & Field Scholar-Athlete of the Year.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
