\nOXFORD, Miss. – University of Mississippi students, alumni
\nand friends look forward to a wide array of activities
\nFriday and Saturday (Oct. 5-6) during Homecoming Weekend,
\nplanned around the theme “All Roads Lead to Ole Miss.”
\n<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

\n“Homecoming is an important part of the university, because
\nit brings together people of all ages from students and
\nalumni to supporters and fans of the university,” said
\nBradley Baker, program coordinator for Campus Programming.
\n“It instills a strong sense of school pride and spirit in
\neveryone associated with the University of Mississippi.”
\n<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\nHighlights include the Alumni Awards Day Ceremony, special
\nactivities for prospective students, a parade and gridiron
\nmatch with Louisiana Tech.
\n<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\nActivities get under way at 3 p.m. Friday in Fulton Chapel,
\nwith presentation of the university’s highest alumni award,
\nthe Ole Miss Alumni Hall of Fame, to five outstanding
\npeople. A reception follows in Bryant Hall. The free,
\npublic event also honors the recipients of the Alumni
\nService Award and the Outstanding Young Alumni Award for
\ntheir service to the university and the Alumni
\nAssociation.
\n<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\nAt 5:30 p.m., the Pride of the South Band strikes up for
\nthe annual homecoming parade, beginning on campus at the
\nLyceum Circle and continuing on University Avenue to the
\nOxford Square. A pep rally is scheduled at the end of the
\nparade route.
\n<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\nSaturday is Fall Visit Day, with activities planned for
\nprospective students to get a firsthand look at campus
\nlife. Registration opens at 8 a.m. in front of Martindale
\nStudent Services Center. Campus tours and maps are to be
\navailable, along with a schedule of the day’s activities.
\n<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n“Fall Visit Day is one-stop shopping for prospective
\nstudents and their families,” said Charlotte Fant,
\nregistrar and director of admissions. Students and their
\nparents can investigate academic programs, student
\norganizations, student life and student support programs
\nall in one day.”
\n<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\nPregame ceremonies at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium begin at
\n12:30 p.m. and include introduction of Alumni Hall of Fame
\ninductees and recipients of other alumni awards. The Ole
\nMiss Rebels take on Louisiana Tech at 1 p.m. Halftime
\nceremonies feature crowning of the 2007 Homecoming queen by
\nChance Laws and ASB President Drew Taggart and presentation
\nof her court.
\n<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\nThe new alumni award honorees also are to be presented at
\nthe annual meeting of the Alumni Association at 10 a.m.
\nSaturday in the Triplett Alumni Center’s Butler Auditorium.
\nNew Alumni Association officers are to be elected at the
\nmeeting, which is open to members of the Alumni
\nAssociation.
\n<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n“Homecoming week is a special time on campus,” said Tim
\nWalsh, associate director of Alumni Affairs. “We always
\nlook forward to having our alumni and friends return to
\ncampus. We look forward to honoring seven special members
\nof the Ole Miss family at our Awards Day Ceremony and to
\ninstalling a new set of officers.”
\n<\/span>\n<\/p>\n
