\nOXFORD, Miss. – Works by renowned daughter-father artists
\nBeth Edwards and Larry Edwards are on exhibit at the
\nUniversity of Mississippi through Nov. 1.
\n<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

\nDisplayed in Gallery 130 at Meek Hall, the exhibit features
\nan artists’ reception and open house at 4 p.m. Thursday,
\nOct. 4. The event is free and open to the public, and
\nrefreshments will be served.
\n<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\nThe exhibit is the first of the season for the Department
\nof Art and is a prime opportunity for students, faculty,
\nstaff and friends to see the recently renovated Meek Hall
\nauditorium, said Nancy Wicker, department chair.
\n<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\nThe auditorium was part of a larger renovation project in
\nMeek Hall, including a remodel of the second and third
\nfloors, according to Bill Anderson, facilities planner and
\nconstruction manager. The hall houses two computer labs, a
\nnew art history lecture hall and a large painting studio
\nfor graduate students.
\n<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\nBeth Edwards’ work appeared on covers of the publication
\nNew American Paintings in 2001 and 2004. She has exhibited
\nat the Clark Gallery in Lincoln, Mass., Gallery NAGA in
\nBoston, Leonard Tachmes Gallery in Miami, Tory Folliard
\nGallery in Milwaukee, Wis., Plus One Plus Two Gallery in
\nLondon and the David Lusk Gallery in Memphis. She has
\ntaught at the University of Memphis since 2001.
\n<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\nLarry Edwards was born in Jackson and has lived and taught
\nart at schools and universities in five states. He received
\nhis Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Southern
\nMississippi and his MFA from Ole Miss. His work has been
\nshown in several group exhibitions in New York City and
\nmany solo and group exhibitions primarily in states east of
\nthe Mississippi River. He exhibits his work at Jay Etkin
\nGallery in Memphis.
