OXFORD, Miss. \u2013 Award-winning singer and songwriter Kenny Rogers takes the stage at the University of Mississippi’s Gertrude C. Ford Center for the Performing Arts at 7 p.m. Thursday (Oct. 10). With a career spanning more than five decades, Rogers brings a long repertoire of familiar songs and new releases.<\/p>\n

Affectionately known as “The Gambler,” a title that stuck with Rogers since the release of his album and title track of the same name in 1978, Rogers is the Recording Industry Association of America’s eighth-best selling male artist of all time. In 1980, “The Gambler” earned Rogers his second Grammy Award for best male country vocal performance. He earned his first Grammy for the mournful ballad “Lucille.”<\/p>\n

Rogers’ newest album, entitled “You Can’t Make Old Friends,” includes a duet with longtime friend Dolly Parton. Rogers has recorded one diamond album, 19 platinum albums and sales of more than 120 million records worldwide.
