\"Haskells\"<\/a>Ole Miss Women\u2019s Council scholars have already taken a weekend trip to Nashville, attended suppers with keynote speakers and met with prominent Ole Miss alumni this spring, and the semester is only halfway over.<\/p>\n

OMWC scholars kicked off the spring semester with a Red Plate Supper in January featuring Richard Gershon, dean of the UM School of Law, who shared information about the school\u2019s space law program.<\/p>\n

Freshmen and sophomore scholars traveled to Nashville from Jan. 31 to Feb. 2, where they visited the Frist Art Center and Schermerhorn Symphony Center, went on the \u201cNash Trash Tour\u201d and enjoyed lunch and a tour at Belle Meade Plantation. The weekend closed with a dinner hosted by OMWC member Karen Moore and her husband, Bruce.\u00a0The highlight of the evening was the \u201cSongwriters in the Round,\u201d which included Grammy Award-winning brothers Gordon and Bryan Kennedy, Rivers Rutherford and Beau Davidson. It was definitely a night to remember!<\/p>\n

UM alumni Mary Donnelly Haskell and Sam Haskell joined the scholars at the February Red Plate Supper to talk about philanthropy.\u00a0Sam Haskell, former executive vice president and worldwide head of television for the William Morris Agency, shared that, early on, his mother told him that he had a \u201cservant\u2019s heart\u201d and that both he and Mary had always been mindful of giving, even when it was a very small contribution. Singer and actress Mary Haskell said that she and her husband have always retained their Southern roots, which have kept them grounded even when living in Hollywood.<\/p>\n
