\nOXFORD, Miss. – The University of Mississippi School of Law
\nhas been named one of the nation’s most outstanding law
\nschools by The Princeton Review.
\n<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

\nThe New York-based company, known for its 200 college and
\ncareer guidebooks, features the school in its recently
\nreleased 2008 edition of Best 170 Law Schools.
\n<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n“We always are pleased to be listed in The Princeton Review
\nand even more pleased about the perception that they and
\nour students have about our law school,” said Law Dean
\nSamuel M. Davis.
\n<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\nThe list is based on 18,000 surveys completed by students
\nattending ABA-approved law schools across the country. The
\n80-question survey asked students about themselves, their
\ncareer plans, their school’s academics, student body and
\ncampus life. The survey results do not rank the law schools
\nin a hierarchical list from 1 to 170.
\n<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n“We select schools for this book based on our high regard
\nfor their academic programs and offerings, institutional
\ndata we collect from the schools, and the candid opinion of
\nstudents attending them who rate and report on their campus
\nexperiences at the schools,” said Robert Franek, a vice
\npresident at The Princeton Review.
\n<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\nThe publication includes two-page profiles of the law
\nschools and includes information on their academics,
\nstudent life and admissions, plus ratings for their
\nacademics, selectivity and career placement services.
\n<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\nAccording to the school’s profile, UM law students agreed
\nthat “diverse opinions accepted in classrooms” and “good
\nsocial life” were two central aspects of the law school’s
\nculture. Students also commented that the school’s
\n“down-home, small-town atmosphere” joined with its
\ncompetitive tuition costs and experienced, accessible
\nfaculty were among the school’s greatest strengths.
\n<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\nThe UM law school has a 16:1 student-faculty ratio, 568
\nfull-time students and a 93 percent employment rate within
\nthe first nine months following graduation, as well as a 92
\npercent passing rate for graduates taking the bar
\nexamination for the first time.
\n<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\nThe law school’s prominent alumni include U.S. Sen. Trent
\nLott, U.S. Sen. Thad Cochran, U.S. Rep. Roger Wicker,
\nauthor John Grisham and UM Chancellor Robert C. Khayat.
