\nOXFORD, Miss. – The Risk Management and Insurance Society,
\nbased in the University of Mississippi School of Business
\nAdministration, plans to host its annual meeting and
\nluncheon Thursday (Oct. 25) in Jackson.
\n<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

\nGary Anderson and Mike Chaney, candidates for Mississippi
\nInsurance Commissioner, are to speak at the event,
\nscheduled for 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Mississippi Sports Hall
\nof Fame and Museum, 1152 Lakeland Drive.
\n<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\nThe meeting is open to the general public and the cost is
\n$20 per person. Registration is available online at
\n<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n“What could be a better way to wrap up our professional
\nsociety’s first year than to provide a forum for the two
\ninsurance commissioner candidates to express their views in
\nJackson,” said Larry Cox, UM professor of finance and
\nholder of the Jack W. and Gwenette P. Robertson Chair of
\nInsurance. “Our alumni, friends and students are all
\ninvited to hear the candidates speak.”
\n<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\nThe purpose of the Risk Management and Insurance Society is
\nto improve the quality of insurance education and to serve
\nas a liaison between the university and the insurance
\nindustry.
\n<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n“We are excited that our first annual meeting also affords
\nus the opportunity to let our members and friends hear from
\nthe two candidates for insurance commissioner, prior to the
\nmost important election for that office in decades,” said
\nThomas Y. Elfert, president of the society. “We’ll have an
\nopportunity to hear from both candidates and conduct a
\nbrief business meeting over lunch.”
