\nOXFORD, Miss. – Meeting prospective students where they are
\nmost comfortable is the idea behind the University of
\nMississippi’s participation in the online college fair
\nCollegeWeekLive, scheduled Nov. 13-14.
\n<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

\nAt no charge, the two-day virtual event connects thousands
\nof high school students with participating colleges around
\nthe country in a live, interactive environment. UM’s
\nparticipation is coordinated by its Office of Admissions.
\n<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n“Our prospective students are more tech-savvy than ever
\nbefore,” said Sarah Christopher, assistant director of
\nadmissions for communications. “This gives students an
\nopportunity to check out Ole Miss in their preferred
\nmedium, the Internet.”
\n<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\nProgramming runs 2-10 p.m. at
\n<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

    \ncollege admission experts, admissions officers and students\n<\/li>\n
  • Real-time, interactive Q&A sessions with college
    \nadmissions officials<\/li>\n

    \npanel discussions from schools across North America. <\/li>\n
  • Virtual booths for colleges, featuring electronic
    \nbrochures, videos, webinars, podcasts and real-time IM and
    \nvideo chats between admissions counselors and
    \nstudents\/parents<\/li>\n
  • Networking capabilities to connect students with other
    \nstudents and service providers<\/li>\n
  • A resource center
    \nfor students and parents<\/li>\n

    <\/span><\/p>\n

    \nUM’s participation in this innovative event “is a testament
    \nto our commitment to reaching students in the environment
    \nwhere they are most comfortable, online,” Christopher said.
    \n“We are excited that Ole Miss is included in this inaugural
    \nevent alongside other prominent, forward-thinking colleges
    \nand universities from across North America.”
    \n<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

    \nOther institutions participating in the event include
    \nDrexel University, Smith College, Kansas State University,
    \nMassachusetts Institute of Technology, Culinary Institute
    \nof America, the U.S. Air Force Academy and the universities
    \nof Arizona, Arkansas, Connecticut, Memphis, Texas and
    \nVirginia.
