\nOXFORD, Miss. – The University of Mississippi’s Opera
\nTheatre is slated to present the fall concert “Love Is”
\nThursday and Friday, Nov. 1-2, at 8 p.m. and Sunday, Nov.
\n4, at 3 p.m. in the newly renovated Meek Hall auditorium.
\n<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

\nTickets are $10 for adults, $8.50 for seniors and children,
\nand $7 for Ole Miss students with valid IDs. They are
\navailable at the UM Box Office in the Student Union or by
\ncalling 662-915-7411.
\n<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\nThe upcoming concert combines musical theatre and opera
\ninto a multifaceted production, which focuses on the common
\nthread of love and its various faces, said director Julia
\nAubrey, associate professor of music.
\n<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n“Love is many things,” Aubrey said. “Love is a fable, love
\nis a fairy tale, love is innocent and love is even more
\nthan just these examples. Throughout the concert, the
\naudience will experience each variation of love.”
\n<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\nThe program will feature pieces from “The Light in the
\nPiazza,” “Hansel and Gretel,” “Wicked,” “A View from the
\nBridge,” “The Old Maid and the Thief,” “La Cenerentola” and
\n“Too Many Sopranos.” The performance will also include a
\ntribute to the late Luciano Pavarotti.
\n<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n“Pavarotti is known as the world’s greatest tenor; we will
\nperform a tribute to him that will showcase his famous
\nworks,” Aubrey said.
\n<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\nAubrey noted that the performances should be entertaining
\nfor all audiences, thanks to updated plots and entirely
\nEnglish dialogue.
\n<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n“This concert is relatable,” she said. “It’s a show for
\neveryone to enjoy, because it illustrates the commonalities
\nbetween the audience and the stories being told.”
\n<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\nUM graduate student Alice-Ann Murray of Searcy, Ark., who
\nis scheduled to sing a piece from “La Cenerentola,” agreed
\nwith Aubrey. “Some of these opera excerpts are genuinely
\nfunny; they are very accessible to an audience whether they
\nparticularly like opera or not.”
\n<\/span>\n<\/p>\n
