United States World Cup action reaches its peak Thursday at 11 a.m. when the USMNT takes on Germany to advance into the round of 16. In other words, it is time to be a patriot, and start a “U-S-A” chant at a local establishment.<\/p>\n

The USA was 24 seconds from securing their place in the round of 16 before Cristiano Ronaldo had to make a beautiful play and ruin America\u2019s day. It hurt because we were about to win a game we were supposed to lose and we had to settle for a tie. Now, we play Germany to advance, which happens to be the second best team in the world.<\/p>\n

Oddly enough, the USA was the underdog in a group that contained 3 legitimate contenders for the World Cup trophy. Yet, we look the best. So having 4 points, and a 76 percent chance to advance to the knockout stages is better than ANYONE anticipated, including myself.<\/p>\n

If you need a reason to root against Germany that has to do with soccer, in 2002 they were gifted a berth in the semifinal of the World Cup by some terrible refereeing. http:\/\/afootballreport.com\/post\/712596291\/ff-usa-robbed-2002<\/a><\/p>\n

So aside from patriotism, there is now revenge, hope and heroics to help guide you to a television Thursday at 11 a.m. Don\u2019t forget the Ole Miss Student Union will be showing the game live in the lobby.<\/p>\n
