\nfrom the trust during their lifetimes. The remainder of the
\ntrust will ultimately be incorporated into the endowment.

\nalso can provide for significant tax benefits. Since this
\ntype of trust is not subject to capital gains or estate
\ntaxes, it’s an attractive option for individuals wishing to
\nmake a large charitable gift and retain the benefits of an
\nannuity.

\nfour-year initiative to raise $200 million. MomentUM, which
\nends in December 2008, already has raised more than $160
\nmillion for scholarships, graduate fellowships, faculty
\nsupport, a basketball practice facility, residential
\ncolleges and a new law school on the Oxford campus. Also in

\nJackson.

\nprovide income support for academics in the School of
\nAccountancy. The money provides scholarship assistance for
\ndeserving students who are pursuing a degree in
\naccountancy, support for a lecture series in the school and
\nother academic needs. When the remainder of the trust is
\nadded to the endowment, administrators in the accountancy
\nschool plan to use the funds to help create a permanent
\nendowed faculty chair.

\ngift from the Minors will benefit our school in countless
\nways. It will significantly impact both faculty and
\nstudents and make our program even stronger.” Minor, who
\ngraduated from Ole Miss in 1937, is a financial consultant
\nand retired accountant. He worked for General Mills Inc. in
\nMinneapolis, where he was assigned to the internal audit
\nstaff and worked in more than 25 of the company’s largest
\noffices across the country.
\n<\/span>\n<\/p>\n
\nin 1946 as a lieutenant commander, he began his own
\naccountancy firm in Memphis, which merged with Ernst &
\nErnst (now Ernst & Young). He became partner-in-charge of
\nthe Memphis office after the merger and held the post until
\nretiring in 1978.
\n<\/span>\n<\/p>\n
\nwith its highest annual honor, inducting him into the
\nAlumni Hall of Fame. Minor has also received the
\naccountancy school’s highest annual honor, being inducted
\ninto its Hall of Fame in 1997.
\n<\/span>\n<\/p>\n
\ngraduated from the Patterson School of Accountancy at Ole
\nMiss,” said Larry Hardy, a longtime friend of Minor’s who
\nwas inducted into the school’s Alumni Hall of Fame in 2006.
\n“He’s been a wonderful friend and mentor and has made an
\nimpact on my life and career. This recent gift from him
\nshows his continued support of Ole Miss students and
\nfaculty, which I think is truly wonderful and inspiring.”
