BIRMINGHAM, Ala.<\/b>\u00a0\u2013<\/b>\u00a0The Southeastern Conference announced\u00a0on Wednesday<\/span><\/span>that the SEC Network will cover the 2014 Southeastern Conference Symposium, highlighted by a live digital stream of the opening keynote address from Nancy Brown, Chief Executive Officer of the American Heart Association.<\/p>\n

Entitled\u00a0Prevention of Obesity: Overcoming a 21st Century Public Health Challenge,<\/i>the second SEC Symposium will take place\u00a0September 21-23<\/span><\/span>\u00a0at the Hyatt Regency Atlanta. This annual academic conference-type event is designed to address a significant scholarly issue by utilizing the range of disciplinary strengths of the SEC\u2019s 14 member universities.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are pleased that the SEC Network, through its digital SEC Network+ platform, will provide coverage of this year\u2019s SEC Symposium,\u201d said Charlie Hussey, Associate Commissioner for SEC Network Relations. \u201cIn addition to the more than 550 exclusive, live athletic events planned for SEC Network+, this SEC Symposium coverage is yet another way to showcase the SEC by promoting the academic and research accomplishments of our conference institutions.\u201d<\/p>\n

SEC Network + is the digital platform of the SEC Network, which can be accessed at SECNetwork.com or on the WatchESPN mobile and tablet applications to customers who receive the SEC Network through their cable, satellite or telco provider.<\/p>\n

Brown\u2019s keynote address will be streamed live on SEC Network+ on\u00a0Sunday, September 21<\/span><\/span>\u00a0at approximately\u00a01 p.m. ET<\/span><\/span>. The SEC Symposium also will be featured on\u00a0SEC Now<\/i>, the SEC Network\u2019s daily news show, during its\u00a0Monday, September 22<\/span><\/span>\u00a0telecast and a video recap of the SEC Symposium will be available on SEC Network+ after the event concludes.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe commitment from the SEC Network raises the exposure of the SEC Symposium to a new level,\u201d said Torie Johnson, Executive Director of SECU, the SEC\u2019s academic initiative. \u201cIn committing time, talent and resources to covering this unique event, the SEC Network, along with the Conference\u2019s leadership, is making a strong statement about the importance of telling the entire story of the Southeastern Conference and its institutions.\u201d<\/p>\n

Hundreds of live SEC events are offered exclusively as SEC Network+ events on WatchESPN and SECNetwork.com through authenticated access from AT&T U-verse, Charter, Comcast, Cox, DISH, Google Fiber, Suddenlink, Verizon FiOS and members of the NCTC, NRTC and NTTC.<\/p>\n
