\nOXFORD, Miss. – University of Mississippi students, faculty
\nand staff participated in the annual Adopt-a-Basket program
\nthis week, donating 274 baskets filled with ingredients for
\nThanksgiving meals for needy families in the Oxford area.
\n<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

\nAdditionally, seven boxes of canned goods were delivered to
\nThe Pantry.
\n<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n“Numerous families have already phoned to express their
\ngratitude for the generosity extended to them by members of
\nthe university who contributed to this year’s
\nAdopt-a-Basket effort,” said Val Ross, assistant dean of
\nstudents for multicultural affairs and volunteer services.
\n“It is a wonderful feeling to work amongst a community of
\nindividuals who embrace giving so wholeheartedly.”
\n<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\nThe Adopt-a-Basket initiative, sponsored by the UM Dean of
\nStudents Office, began more than three years ago as part of
\nthe Mississippi Universities Service Into Caring project
\ninvolving the state’s eight public institutions of higher
\nlearning.
