It&#8217;s the third museum artifact to be featured on the blog. The piece, which is part of the museum&#8217;s<span class=\"apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/museum.olemiss.edu\/collections\/robinson\/\">David M. Robinson Collection of Greek and Roman antiquities in the Mary Buie building<\/a>, dates back to the second century A.D. Helen Tudor Robinson gave it to the museum.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-top: 0in; orphans: auto; text-align: start; widows: auto; -webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; word-spacing: 0px;\"><span style=\"color: #333333;\">The museum&#8217;s description of the piece says its &#8220;eyes\u2005and\u2005hair\u2005are\u2005&#8217;melting&#8217;\u2005style\u2005typically\u2005Praxitelean.\u2005The\u2005holes\u2005in\u2005the\u2005ear\u2005lobes\u2005are\u2005for\u2005earrings.\u2005The\u2005hair\u2005was\u2005created\u2005with\u2005a\u2005running\u2005drill.\u2005Likely\u2005early\u2005Antonine\u2005Dynasty.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-top: 0in; orphans: auto; text-align: start; widows: auto; -webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; word-spacing: 0px;\"><span style=\"color: #333333;\">As part of the museum&#8217;s anniversary celebration, admission is free through Aug. 8, 2015. There will be a lot to see as the museum introduces several new exhibits and unveils<span class=\"apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/web20.olemiss.edu\/news\/wordpress\/university-of-mississippi-museum-exhibition-advisory\/#.VA9Yt1ZQVyE\">a new major gift<\/a><span class=\"apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>as well as the reinstallation of the David M. Robinson Collection of Greek and Roman antiquities.<span class=\"apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-top: 0in; orphans: auto; text-align: start; widows: auto; -webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; word-spacing: 0px;\"><span style=\"color: #333333;\">The first of the 75 items to be featured<span class=\"apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/web20.olemiss.edu\/news\/wordpress\/um-museum-celebrates-75th-anniversary-with-free-admission\/\">was the Volute Krater<\/a>, an ancient Greek artifact. The second item was<a href=\"http:\/\/web20.olemiss.edu\/news\/wordpress\/um-museum-75-for-75-georgia-okeeffes-lake-george-abstraction\/\"><span class=\"apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>Georgia O&#8217;Keeffe&#8217;s &#8220;Lake George&#8221; abstraction.\u00a0<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-top: 0in; orphans: auto; text-align: start; widows: auto; -webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; word-spacing: 0px;\"><span style=\"color: #333333;\">To see a complete list of upcoming events and information on the new exhibitions,<span class=\"apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/museum.olemiss.edu\/events-2\">click here<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-top: 0in; orphans: auto; text-align: start; widows: auto; -webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; word-spacing: 0px;\"><span style=\"color: #333333;\">The University Museum is open to the public 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays. The museum is\u00a0closed Mondays and regular university holidays. Its facilities are handicapped-accessible.
