Steven Ridout, a UM procurement assistant, has been selected as Staff Council’s Staff Member of the Month for October. To help us\u00a0get to know him better, Ridout answered a few questions for Inside Ole Miss.<\/span><\/p>\n

IOM:<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0<\/span><\/b><\/span>How long have you worked at Ole Miss?<\/span><\/p>\n

Ridout:<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>2.5 years.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

IOM:<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>What is your hometown?\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Ridout:<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Philadelphia, Mississippi.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

IOM:<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>What is your favorite Ole Miss memory?<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Ridout:<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Meeting my wife. We met while we were in college here at Ole Miss and now I don’t think I could go one day without her. She’s my better half.<\/span><\/p>\n

IOM:<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>What do you enjoy most about your position or the department in which you work?<\/span><\/p>\n

Ridout:<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>I love the people I work with. They are always there when I need them and we work well as a team. I couldn’t ask for a better group of people to call my co-workers.<\/span><\/p>\n

IOM:<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>What do you like to do when you are not at work?<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Ridout:<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Eat. Oxford has a lot to choose from, and I still have a few restaurants I need to try out.<\/span><\/p>\n

IOM:<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>What is one thing on your bucket list?<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Ridout:<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Travel somewhere in an airplane. I’m scared of heights and never flown so I’d like to get over my fear and do some traveling. I see travel paperwork all day and I’m jealous of all the places people get to travel.<\/span><\/p>\n

IOM:<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>What is your favorite movie?\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Ridout:<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0“<\/span><\/span>Forrest Gump.” I could quote most, if not all of the movie.<\/span><\/p>\n

IOM:<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>What is your favorite Ole Miss tradition?<\/span><\/p>\n

Ridout:<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Tailgating in the Grove. There’s no other place like it, and you get to spend time with your closest friends and family before a football game.<\/span><\/p>\n

IOM:<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>If you could have lunch with anyone alive or dead, fictional or real, who would it be and why?<\/span><\/p>\n

Ridout:<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Nick Offerman. One of my favorite actors and I’d like to see if he is anything like he is on television.<\/span><\/p>\n
