\"\"<\/a>The Sally McDonnell Barksdale Honors College<\/a> is an academic cornerstone of\u00a0the University of Mississippi.<\/p>\n

The university offered an honors program beginning in\u00a01952, but the Honors College was developed in 1997 when Jim and Sally Barksdale decided to make a difference on campus with an endowment, bringing the idea of the college to a reality.<\/p>\n

Since then, it has become the reason many top students choose to attend Ole Miss, as it gives the opportunity for high-performing students to work together.<\/p>\n

More than 1,000 are students enrolled in the Honors College, hailing from 34 states and nine countries. The average ACT score for Honors College students is 30, with a high school GPA of 3.93. Courses in the Honors College span more than\u00a071 majors.<\/p>\n

The college gives students unique academic opportunities such as study abroad options, guest speakers and\u00a0fellowships.<\/p>\n
