\nOXFORD, Miss. – Members of the Mississippi Small Business
\nDevelopment Center recently attended a Franklin Covey
\nLeadership Foundations workshop in Flowood.
\n<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

\nMSBDC, headquartered at the University of Mississippi, took
\nadvantage of the daylong Workshop for Emerging Leaders to
\ntrain existing employees to take on larger roles as they
\ngrow with the organization, said Associate State Director
\nMike Vanderlip.
\n<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n“This workshop helps MSBDC to improve the quality of
\nleadership and provide future leaders for our organization.
\nAlso, we will be able to provide even more services and
\nexpertise to our clients,” he said.
\n<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\nThis was the first such workshop MSBDC has participated in
\nthrough Franklin Covey, a national provider of
\ntime-management training and assessment services for
\norganizations and individuals. The company is based in West
\nValley City, Utah.
\n<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n“We haven’t attended the leadership workshop before, but
\nFranklin Covey has come into the different MSBDC offices to
\ndo other seminars and training sessions for us,” Vanderlip
\nsaid, adding that he is impressed with the “invaluable
\ninformation” the training offers.
\n<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\nMississippi Small Business Development Centers provide a
\nvariety of services to more than 10,000 small businesses
\neach year, including counseling, workshops and information
\nservices. Resources are available to assist in business
\nplan development, market analysis, capital sources,
\nlocation, technology and other managerial and technical
\nsupport services.
