\nOXFORD, Miss. – A University of Mississippi alumni couple
\nhas honored Chancellor Robert Khayat with a gift of $25,000
\nto the Chancellor’s Trust.
\n<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

\nPete and Allison Davis wanted to give back to their alma
\nmater and support Khayat’s leadership and vision for the
\ninstitution.
\n<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n“I wanted to support the many positive steps the university
\nhas taken under Chancellor Khayat’s leadership,” Davis
\nsaid. “I had a desire to participate in the impressive
\nchanges that the university continues to undergo.”
\n<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\nEstablished in 1975, the Chancellor’s Trust is used for the
\nuniversity’s greatest needs. Supporting the fund provides
\nthe chancellor with the flexibility to use the gift where
\nit is most effective. For example, the money can be used to
\nenhance faculty development, provide scholarships or
\nrespond to changing needs.
\n<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\nDavis, originally from Laurel, is a real estate investment
\nbanker in Atlanta. He received a bachelor’s degree in
\nEnglish in 1994 and a master’s degree in education in 1998.
\nBefore leaving Oxford for Atlanta, he worked as an Ole Miss
\nassistant tennis coach, a development officer for the
\nSchool of Engineering and in the Office of the Chancellor,
\nanother reason he was motivated to give to the fund.
\n<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n“Chancellor Khayat gave me some fantastic and unique
\nopportunities during the time I worked with him, and I saw
\nthis gift as a small way to help repay him for that,” Davis
\nsaid.
\n<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\nAllison Davis also attended Ole Miss and received her
\nbachelor’s of fine arts degree in 1995. The couple’s
\nchildren are 16-month-old twins Peter and Lillis.
\n<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\nThe gift is part of the university’s MomentUM campaign, a
\nfour-year initiative to raise $200 million. The campaign,
\nwhich ends in December 2008, already has raised more than
\n$160 million for scholarships, graduate fellowships,
\nfaculty support, a basketball practice facility,
\nresidential colleges and a new law school on the Oxford
\ncampus. Also in the plan is a cancer center at the UM
\nMedical Center in Jackson.
\n<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\nChancellor’s Trust gifts can be paid out over a five-year
\nperiod, and members receive invitations to special events.
