\"29_DAYS-THANKS_2\"<\/a>The University of Mississippi family spans the country and Ole Miss is well-represented everywhere by our alumni.<\/p>\n

Our most notable alumni are nationally known and range from political figures to outstanding athletes.<\/p>\n

Ole Miss track star Brittney Reese won the Olympic gold medal in 2012 for the long jump.<\/p>\n

And we have several former Rebels in the National Football League. Eli Manning, Dexter McCluster, Michael Oher, Patrick Willis, Mike Wallace, Peria Jerry and Jamarca Sanford are all playing in the NFL.<\/p>\n

And of course, Archie Manning and Deuce McAlister both rose to NFL fame with the New Orleans Saints.<\/p>\n

Civil rights activist James Meredith changed higher education when he became the first African-American student to attend a university in Mississippi in 1962.<\/p>\n

Well-known political figures who\u00a0have passed through the halls at Ole Miss include former Mississippi governors William Winter and Haley Barbour, current and former U.S. senators Thad Cochran, Roger Wicker and Trent Lott, and state Attorney General Jim Hood.<\/p>\n
