{"id":46987,"date":"2015-02-27T09:00:35","date_gmt":"2015-02-27T15:00:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/news.olemiss.edu\/?p=46987"},"modified":"2015-02-27T08:36:16","modified_gmt":"2015-02-27T14:36:16","slug":"free-family-law-clinic-set-um","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/web20.olemiss.edu\/news\/wordpress\/free-family-law-clinic-set-um\/","title":{"rendered":"Free Family Law Clinic Set for UM"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"margin-top: 0in;\">OXFORD, Miss. \u2013 A free family law clinic is set for March 26 at the <a href=\"http:\/\/law.olemiss.edu\">University of Mississippi School of Law<\/a> to assist self-represented plaintiffs in completing pleadings and presenting family law matters.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-top: 0in; orphans: auto; text-align: start; widows: auto; -webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; word-spacing: 0px;\">The Family Law Legal Clinic, scheduled for noon to 4 p.m., is conducted in partnership with the Pro Bono Initiative and the Mississippi Volunteer Lawyers Project. UM holds the clinic twice a year.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-top: 0in; orphans: auto; text-align: start; widows: auto; -webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; word-spacing: 0px;\">Students participating in the clinic work with local attorneys to assist area residents. Types of cases handled at the clinics are divorce, child custody, child support, guardianship, adoption, name change and emancipation.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-top: 0in; orphans: auto; text-align: start; widows: auto; -webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; word-spacing: 0px;\">Clients who attend the clinic must be residents of Lafayette County or reside in counties within a one-hour radius of Oxford. Clients must also have incomes at or below 200 percent of the poverty level.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-top: 0in; orphans: auto; text-align: start; widows: auto; -webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; word-spacing: 0px;\">Potential clients must call MVLP at 601-960-9577 to determine if they are eligible for the free service.
