OXFORD, Miss. – A musical performance featuring the songs
\nand stories of American legend Johnny Cash promises to lift
\nhearts and stir souls Saturday (Feb. 2) at the University
\nof Mississippi.
\n<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\u00a0\n<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

\n“Ring of Fire,” a journey into the life and sounds of the
\nbeloved singer by a national touring company, takes the
\nstage at 8 p.m. in the Gertrude C. Ford Center for the
\nPerforming Arts.
\n<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\nTickets are $35, $32 and $29 for various seating and
\navailable by calling the UM Box Office at 662-915-7411.
\n<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\nNorm Easterbrook, Ford Center director, said he looks
\nforward to the show, which completed a Broadway run last
\nyear.
\n<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n“‘Fire’ will be exciting as it is just coming off
\nBroadway,” Easterbrook said. “Because of the generational
\nappeal of Cash’s music, I know this production will be a
\nfavorite among theatergoers, especially in this region.”
\n<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\nCreated by Tony Award winner Richard Maltby Jr., “Ring of
\nFire” features musical direction by Jeff Lisenby and
\nchoreography by Lisa Shriver. Its cast of 14 multi-talented
\nperformers takes the audience on a rousing adventure of
\nlove and faith, struggle and success, all with the
\nstrength, humor and downright honesty that made Johnny Cash
\none of the greatest songwriters and most revered
\nstorytellers in the history of American music.
\n<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\nThe show features 38 of the music legend’s songs, including
\n“Country Boy,” “A Thing Called Love,” “Five Feet High and
\nRising,” “Daddy Sang Bass,” “Ring of Fire,” “I Walk the
\nLine,” “I’ve Been Everywhere,” “The Man in Black” and his
\nfinal hit, “Hurt.”
\n<\/span>\n<\/p>\n
