OXFORD, Miss. – Noel Wilkin, chair of the pharmacy
\nadministration department and director of the Center for
\nPharmaceutical Marketing and Management in the University
\nof Mississippi School of Pharmacy, has been appointed as
\nthe university’s interim associate provost.
\n<\/span><\/p>\n\n\u00a0\n<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
\nWilkin is charged with assisting the university’s efforts
\nin the areas of strategic planning, student retention and
\nacademic affairs.
\n<\/span>\n<\/p>\n\n“We are very pleased Dr. Noel Wilkin has joined us in the
\nOffice of the Provost,” said Morris Stocks, interim
\nprovost. “He brings a wealth of experience as a faculty
\nmember and administrator to this office. He is an
\naccomplished teacher and researcher and a faithful
\nservant.”
\n<\/span>\n<\/p>\n\nSince joining the faculty in 1996, Wilkin has earned
\nacclaim as a teacher, researcher and administrator. In
\n2004, he was chosen as part of the inaugural class of the
\nAcademic Leadership Fellows Program with the American
\nAssociation of Colleges of Pharmacy.
\n<\/span>\n<\/p>\n\nA dynamic teacher, he has won the pharmacy school’s
\nPharmaceutical Science Teaching Award three of the past
\nfour years. His research interests focus on decision-making
\nby patients, pharmaceutical management and marketing, and
\nhelping pharmacists cope with new Medicare and Medicaid
\nregulations. He also serves on several university,
\ncommunity and pharmacy school committees.
\n<\/span>\n<\/p>\n\nWilkin has already assumed the new responsibilities and
\nwill continue to teach and coordinate his research projects
\nin a transitional capacity through the spring semester.
\n<\/span>\n<\/p>\n\n“I’m very excited about this opportunity and the challenges
\nit brings,” Wilkin said. “It’s a great chance to learn and
\ngain a broader appreciation of the overall university and
\nwork to facilitate its programs.”
