OXFORD, Miss. – From the grand stages of Lincoln
\nCenter to the glitterama of Atlantic City, Lyn
\nDillies has captivated audiences of all ages with
\nher spellbinding powers.
\n<\/span><\/p>\n\n\u00a0\n<\/p>\n

\n Hailed as one of the finest female magicians in the
\nland, as well as one of America’s top illusionists,
\nDillies with her onstage assistant Marc LeBlanc
\nbrings a first-class act to the University of
\nMississippi Feb. 10.
\n<\/span>\n<\/p>\n\n“The Magic of Lyn” begins at 2 p.m. at the Gertrude C. Ford
\nCenter for the Performing Arts. Tickets are $15 for general
\nadmission and $7 for children under age 18. There is a
\nlimit of three child tickets per each general admission
\nticket. They are available at the UM Box Office in the
\nStudent Union and the Ford Center Box Office. They can also

\n<\/span>\n<\/p>\n\n Norm Easterbrook, Ford Center director, said
\nDillies performance is one of two family-friendly
\nprograms slated for the spring season.
\n<\/span>\n<\/p>\n\n “We wanted to introduce family-friendly programming
\nthis year to give families an affordable way to
\nexperience the Ford Center together,” Easterbrook
\nsaid. “I couldn’t think of a better program for
\nthis audience than Lyn Dillies, who has mesmerized
\naudiences – from two to 82 – throughout the United
\nStates and Canada.”
\n<\/span>\n<\/p>\n\nThe show is filled with eye-defying illusions, hypnotic
\nlighting, exciting music and the enchanting personality of
\nDillies.
\n<\/span>\n<\/p>\n\nDillies created magic history by being the only illusionist
\nbefore or since to make two live Asian elephants appear in
\nsuccession. This incredible feat was accomplished outdoors,
\nin front of an audience of her peers for the grand opening
\nof the Buttonwood Park Zoo in New Bedford, Mass. As a
\nresult, her illusion has been included in the national
\narchives of the Society of American Magicians library.
\n<\/span>\n<\/p>\n\nDillies’ 2007 DVD “Learn Magic with Lyn” has won accolades
\nas well, including a Dove Award and a Parent’s Choice
\nAward.
\n<\/span>\n<\/p>\n\nSince the elephant feat, rave reviews have followed
\nDillies’ performances. David Munnell of Fredonia Opera
\nHouse Inc. described her illusions as “astounding.”
\n<\/span>\n<\/p>\n\n“Our audience was just knocked out! Everyone from the kids
\nto the grandparents raved about it for weeks afterwards,”
\nMunnell said.
\n<\/span>\n<\/p>\n\nEasterbrook expects a similar response after Dillies’
\nperformance in Oxford.
\n<\/span>\n<\/p>\n\n“The audience will gasp in wonder, laugh heartily and clap
\nspontaneously,” he said. “One thing is sure, they will
\nnever forget what will surely be an entertaining,
\nmystifying and dazzling experience at the Ford Center.”
