OXFORD, Miss. – The husband-and-wife team of baritone
\nBradley Robinson and soprano Jennifer Robinson present a
\nrecital Monday (Feb. 25) at the University of Mississippi.
\n<\/span><\/p>\n\n\u00a0\n<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
\nThe two UM music faculty members perform at 8 p.m. in Nutt
\nAuditorium of Scruggs Hall. They are to be accompanied by
\npianist Stacey Rodgers, professor of music. Tickets are $8
\nfor adults and $5 for UM students and children. Call

\n<\/span>\n<\/p>\n\n“The program presents a wide variety of subjects and
\nmusical styles,” said Bradley Robinson, associate professor
\nof music.
\n<\/span>\n<\/p>\n\nTheir evening repertoire includes the humorous piece
\n“Dunque io son” from the “Barber of Seville,” Russian folk
\nsongs and a collection of musical theater works that takes
\nthe audience through the different stages of married life.
\n<\/span>\n<\/p>\n\nSolo selections include fiery Spanish songs, a collection
\nof French songs and the well-known “Soliloquy” from Rodgers
\nand Hammerstein’s “Carousel.” A dramatic highlight is
\nJennifer Robinson’s performance of “A Letter from Sullivan
\nBallou.”
\n<\/span>\n<\/p>\n\n“‘A Letter from Sullivan Ballou’ is a poignant musical
\nsetting of the actual last letter sent by the Civil War
\nofficer to his wife,” said Jennifer Robinson, adjunct
\ninstructor of music.
\n<\/span>\n<\/p>\n\nBradley Robinson has performed opera, oratorio and musical
\ntheater throughout the U.S. with companies including the
\nAtlanta Civic Opera, Opera Memphis, Charlotte Opera, St.
\nPetersburg Opera, Opera Carolina and Chautauqua Opera. He
\ncan be heard on Albany Records.
\n<\/span>\n<\/p>\n\nJennifer Robinson has performed opera, oratorio and recital
\nthroughout the U.S. Her operatic roles include Despina and
\nFiordiligi in “Cosi Fan Tutte,” Marenka in “The Bartered
\nBride,” Adele in “Die Fledermaus” and Pamina in “The Magic
\nFlute.”
