\nOXFORD, Miss. – A random sample of University of
\nMississippi freshmen and seniors are being asked to provide
\ninformation about their college experience, including their
\nviews about the quality of their education and how they
\nspend their time.
\n<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

\nUM is among 500 colleges and universities from across the
\ncountry participating in the National Survey of Student
\nEngagement. This is the second year Ole Miss has
\nparticipated, primarily to learn more about what students
\nthink and do. That information is helpful in improving
\nundergraduate programs.
\n<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n“By completing this survey, you can help us not only to
\nevaluate your experience at Ole Miss but also to compare
\nyour experience with that of other college students
\nthroughout the country,” Chancellor Robert Khayat said.
\n<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\nAll students who complete the questionnaire by midnight
\nMarch 15 will be entered into one of two prize drawings.
\nTwo freshmen students will win a parking pass to allow them
\nto park on the Circle for two weeks. Two senior students
\nwill win a five-year membership to the Ole Miss Alumni
\nAssociation.
\n<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\nInformation gathered from the National Survey of Student
\nEngagement is to be analyzed and shared with faculty, staff
\nand student leaders in summary form. All individual
\nresponses are kept confidential.
\n<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\nStudents contacted about completing the survey have a
\nunique opportunity to let Ole Miss administrators know what
\nthey think of their college experience, the kinds of
\nactivities in which they engage and how they are benefiting
\nfrom their studies.
\n<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\nThis survey is different from others that students often
\nare asked to complete because responses become part of a
\ncontinuing national study that UM and hundreds of other
\nuniversities around the country will use for the
\nforeseeable future.
\n<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\nStudents selected to participate in the survey will receive
\nan e-mail invitation from Chancellor Khayat.
\n<\/span>\n<\/p>\n
