\nOXFORD, Miss. – Wirt A. Yerger III of Jackson, CEO of
\nAmerican Wireless License Group, is scheduled to speak
\nTuesday (March 4) at the University of Mississippi.
\n<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

\nHosted by the School of Business Administration, the 2 p.m.
\npresentation in Conner Hall, Room 110, is free and open to
\nthe public. Yerger’s address “An Entrepreneur’s Look at
\nAdversity & Change” is under the auspices of the Sam and
\nMary Carter Lecture Series.
\n<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n“In the current global digital economy, we know it is
\nimportant to expose our students to emerging information
\nand communication technologies,” said John Holleman,
\ndirector of corporate relations and MBA services in the
\nbusiness school.
\n<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n“As an early leader in the wireless communications
\nindustry, Wirt Yerger will be able to share his
\nperspectives with our students through his participation in
\nthe Sam and Mary Carter Lecture Series,” said John
\nHolleman, director of corporate relations and MBA services
\nfor the business school.
\n<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\nYerger’s involvement with the wireless communications
\nindustry stretches back to the early days of cellular
\ntechnology when he served as president and chairman of the
\nboard many wireless companies. He now manages Crown
\nCommunications LLC; and PCS Licensee, American Wireless
\nLLC.<\/b>
\n<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\nThe Mississippi Business Journal named Yerger one of the
\n“Top 40 Under 40” businessmen in 1996. Besides his
\ninvolvement with wireless communications, Yerger also
\ngained an extensive background in the insurance and risk
\nmanagement field through 15 years as vice president of Ross
\n& Yerger Inc. He also serves on the Board of Directors of
\nPriority One Bank and Alaska Digital.
\n<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\nThe Sam and Mary Carter Lecture Series in Banking and
\nFinance was established at UM in 1987 by Celia Carter Muths
\nand Mary Carter Speed in honor of their parents. The
\npurpose of the series is to bring outstanding banking or
\nfinance executives to make presentations to students and
\nfaculty on issues in the financial sector of our economy.
