It looks different this year, and we hope that everyone will open it and accept the challenge to donate a portion of your salary to help the worthy cause.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-top: 0in; orphans: auto; text-align: start; widows: 1; -webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; word-spacing: 0px;\">The sooner each of us makes a pledge, the quicker we will reach the $150,000 goal for this year.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-top: 0in; orphans: auto; text-align: start; widows: 1; -webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; word-spacing: 0px;\">&#8220;The members of the UM United Way Campaign Committee invite all administration, faculty and staff to participate in this year&#8217;s fundraising efforts,&#8221; said Thelma Curry, captain of UPD support operations and campus committee co-chairperson. &#8220;Contributions may be made through payroll deductions each payroll period or by check.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-top: 0in; orphans: auto; text-align: start; widows: 1; -webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; word-spacing: 0px;\">Fair Share givers contribute one hour&#8217;s wages each month to the United Way. Emerging Leadership givers donate $250 to $499. Leadership givers contribute at least $500.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-top: 0in; orphans: auto; text-align: start; widows: 1; -webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; word-spacing: 0px;\">Employees have until the end of the semester to make a pledge but are urged not to procrastinate.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-top: 0in; orphans: auto; text-align: start; widows: 1; -webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; word-spacing: 0px;\">&#8220;As the holidays approach, the number of calls for philanthropy typically increases,&#8221; said Lucile McCook, lecturer in biology and campus committee co-chairperson. &#8220;In this critical economic climate, we want to make sure that our campus United Way campaign is not inadvertently omitted lest we fall short of reaching our goal.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-top: 0in; orphans: auto; text-align: start; widows: 1; -webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; word-spacing: 0px;\">So go ahead; make someone&#8217;s day.
