\nOXFORD, Miss. – The Sally McDonnell Barksdale Honors
\nCollege at the University of Mississippi recently received
\na Bronze ADDY, a prestigious regional award in the world’s
\nmost competitive advertising competition.
\n<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

\n“We are absolutely delighted that our Web site received
\nsuch top accolades,” said Douglass Sullivan-Gonzalez,
\nhonors college dean. “We are grateful for the public
\nacknowledgment.”
\n<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\nThe annual ADDY Awards attract some 60,000 entries
\nnationally each year. A panel in Memphis judged this year’s
\nMississippi Delta Advertising Federation entries, which
\nincluded the honors college Web site.
\n<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\nPatrice Anderson, a creative director and Web developer for
\nGibens Creative Group of Tupelo, built the site, which has
\n100 interactive pages with large expanding navigation.
\nAnderson worked with others at the honors college,
\nincluding John Samonds, associate dean, and Costa Osadov,
\ntelecommunications analyst.
\n<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n“I believe that the general aesthetics of the Web site
\nalong with an easy-to-use, consistent navigation system
\ngive the honors college site a clear advantage,” Anderson
\nsaid. “These attributes are key to any professional Web
\nsite.”
\n<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\nThis was the Gibens Creative Group’s first time to enter
\nthe ADDY Awards.
\n<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\nAnderson said she had been tasked by the honors college to
\ncreate a site that would appeal to prospective students and
\ntheir parents while maintaining effective communication
\nwith current students. “We depend upon the Web site to
\ncommunicate our essential message: We are looking for
\ncreative, imaginative and high-performing students to join
\nus in an intellectual venture at the SMBHC,”
\nSullivan-Gonzalez said. “This Web site creates a dynamic
\nand energetic feel to this message and makes that message
\ncome alive through the lives of our extraordinary
\nstudents.”
\n<\/span>\n<\/p>\n
