2015 CEED Cohort<\/p><\/div>\n

OXFORD, Miss. \u2013 The McLean Institute for Public Service and Community Engagement at the University of Mississippi is taking applications for Cohort 3 (2016-2018) of the Catalyzing Entrepreneurship and Economic Development initiative.<\/p>\n

Review of applications will begin March 11, and interviews with applicants will take place the week of March 21-25.<\/p>\n

A completed application will include a resume, statement of purpose and two letters of reference. All these items should be loaded online as a PDF attachment at http:\/\/www.mclean.olemiss.edu\/ceed<\/a><\/span>.<\/p>\n

The statement of purpose is an opportunity for students to share their connection to the CEED initiative.<\/p>\n

Starting in 2014, the McLean Institute developed the CEED initiative to allow students and faculty at UM to build partnerships with rural communities in Mississippi. The goal is to address social problems in the state such as asset building, education, health care and poverty. Students will research social problems and provide solutions in the form of a business plan, a detailed framework of a nonprofit organization or a significant academic or policy paper.<\/p>\n

The statement of purpose should be written in two to four pages, double-spaced, using 12-point Times New Roman font and should include a personal biography, social problem and solution.<\/p>\n

Interest sessions will be held for students to learn more about the CEED initiative from students already in the program. Sessions will take place from 1 to 2 p.m. Feb. 3, 16 and 29 in the Ole Miss Student Union, Room 404. Anyone interested is welcome to come to one of the sessions to learn more.<\/p>\n

Interviews will take place with the director of the McLean Institute, the CEED project manager and additional staff members of the McLean Institute.<\/p>\n

Cohort 3 will be announced March 29.<\/p>\n
