\nOXFORD, Miss. – The University of Mississippi hosts the
\nthird annual Rebel Man Sprint Triathlon March 29.
\n<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

\nThe event, which begins at 8 a.m., is open to men, women
\nand children. The fee for Ole Miss students, faculty and
\nstaff participants is $50 for individuals and $95 per team.
\nRegistration fee for the general public is $60 for
\nindividuals and $120 for teams.
\n<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\nPre-registration is required by March 24, but closes when
\n250 participants have signed up. There is no on-site
\nregistration. Packet pickup is 3-7 p.m. March 28 at the
\nTurner Center.
\n<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n“The RMST is an example of a quality event administered by
\nuniversity students, staff and faculty, partially funded by
\nthe Oxford Convention and Visitors Bureau and local
\nbusiness sponsors, and time and manpower commitments from
\nthe city of Oxford and Lafayette county,” said Kim Beason,
\nassociate professor of parks and recreation management.
\n“The end result is a partnership that provides students
\nwith an applied learning experience and the Lafayette,
\nOxford, University community with exposure and an influx of
\ntourism dollars.”
\n<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\nThe triathlon begins with a 400-meter swim at the Turner
\nCenter pool. Following completion of the swim, participants
\nembark on the 21-kilometer bike leg of the triathlon and
\nend with a 5-kilometer run. Specific maps highlighting both
\nbike and running routes can be accessed at

\n<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\nAll proceeds go to graduate research for students in the
\nDepartment of Health, Exercise Science and Recreation
\nManagement. The UM Park and Recreation Management Majors
\nAssociation and the Department of Health, Exercise Science
\nand Recreation Management are the primary hosts for this
\nyear’s event.
\n<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\nThe 2007 competition featured 215 participants.
\n<\/span>\n<\/p>\n
