<\/p>\n

\nTom and Dick Smothers, with nearly 50 years of performing
\nunder their belts, bring lots of jokes and a touch of
\nnostalgia to the Gertrude C. Ford Center for the Performing
\nArts at the University of Mississippi March 29.
\n<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\nTickets for the 8 p.m. performance are $35, $32 and $29 for
\nvarious seating and available by visiting the UM Box Office
\nin the Student Union, Ford Center Box Office or “events” at
\n
\nhttp:\/\/www.olemiss.edu\/fordcenter\/<\/a>.
\n<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n“The brothers’ upcoming performance at the Ford Center
\nprovides an opportunity for fans to see the famous duo in a
\ncomfortable and intimate venue,” said Norm Easterbrook,
\nFord Center director.
\n<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\nJoining the brothers is the YoYo Man. That is, Tom as the
\nYoYo Man and Dick as the voice.
\n<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n“Time has been an essential ingredient in the Smothers
\nBrothers’ success,” Easterbrook said “They’ve always been
\nthe masters of timeless comedy. Incorporating the YoYo Man
\nin the comedy routine is simply another reason for their
\nlasting career.”
\n<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\nThe brothers have been described by critics from the Boston
\nGlobe, New York Times and various other media as “one of
\nthe most successful teams in history,” “comedic treasures”
\nand “comic geniuses.”
\n<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\nJustifiably, time has provided the duo with another
\ndescriptor: an American classic. During the 1960s, ’70s and
\n’80s, audiences enjoyed them in their prime-time TV series
\n“The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour,” as well as in
\ncoast-to-coast concert tours and performances with symphony
\norchestras. The television series launched their trademark
\nact of performing folk songs, with Tom on acoustic guitar
\nand Dick on string bass, which usually led to fake
\narguments between the two siblings.
\n<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\nTheir contributions to the entertainment world have been
\nrecognized by the Museum of Television and Radio in New
\nYork, which produced a retrospective and seminar on their
\nwork, plus the entertainment industry honored them with a
\nstar on the historic Hollywood Walk of Fame.
\n<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\nTom and Dick Smothers are justifiably known as “comedy
\nlegends,” Easterbrook said.
\n<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n“Today, the hilarious sibling rivalry sets the Smothers
\nBrothers apart from comedy teams past and present. They are
\na classic American duo and their show is one you won’t soon
\nforget,” he said.
\n<\/span>\n<\/p>\n
