\"white_asw_webheader2\"OXFORD, Miss. \u2013 Amateur photographers in the University of Mississippi and Oxford community are invited to participate in the University of Mississippi Museum’s<\/a> Adult Studio Workshop: Photography with Brooke White, set for Nov. 11-12.<\/p>\n

The two-day workshop, designed for novices, will focus on the building blocks of photography, including composition, lighting and basic digital editing. Participants will learn from artist and educator Brooke White, who specializes in fine art photography.<\/p>\n

White is an Ole Miss associate professor of art, teaching traditional black-and-white photography, digital photography and digital video, among other specialties. Much of her work centers on the role of geography, politics and new media and its intersection with identity.<\/p>\n

“It is a rare treat to be able to take a workshop from the incredibly talented Brooke White, and we are thrilled to be able to offer this program to the Oxford community in connection with our latest special exhibition ‘The Beautiful Mysterious: The Extraordinary Gaze of William Eggleston,'” said Emily McCauley, the museum’s curator of education.<\/p>\n

All digital camera types are welcome and the museum can loan point-and-shoot digital cameras upon request. The workshop will begin at the museum, where participants will draw inspiration from the Eggleston exhibit, followed by photographing the town of Oxford and the Ole Miss campus, and a session on digital editing.<\/p>\n

“In this workshop, it is my hope that participants become lifelong photographers and that a passion for photography begins here,” White said. “By introducing students to new skill sets that include finding the perfect light and adjusting specific camera settings, each participant will experience hands-on tips for taking their photography to the next level.” <\/p>\n

The workshop costs $35 and includes three sessions: 6-8 p.m. Nov. 11 and 8 a.m.-noon and 2-5 p.m. Nov. 12. Space is limited and participants can register online at http:\/\/museum.olemiss.edu\/<\/a>.<\/p>\n
