\nOXFORD, Miss. – The University of Mississippi School of
\nBusiness Administration has been ranked as one of the
\nnation’s top 100 undergraduate business programs by U.S.
\nNews & World Report.
\n<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

\nThe prestigious designation is part of the publication’s
\nannual “America’s Best Colleges” rankings.
\n<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n“This recognition enhances the value of our alumni degrees,
\nand it certainly will help attract better students and also
\nallow current students to gain better employment
\nprospects,” said Ken Cyree, interim dean of the school.
\n<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\nThe undergraduate business program was ranked among both
\npublic and private higher education institutions
\nnationwide. Criteria for the rankings included student test
\nscores, proportion of jobs and starting salaries and
\nfunding. Twenty percent of the ranking is based on a score
\ngiven by deans of the other top universities.
\n<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n“It is an honor for the School of Business Administration
\nto be recognized,” said UM Interim Provost Morris Stocks.
\n“It confirms not only the school’s academic and research
\nquality; it is also a reflection of how our peers perceive
\nour overall academic reputation.”
\n<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\nCyree credits the undergraduate program’s recognition to
\nincreased visibility through scholarship and success of
\ngraduates.
\n<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n“We have several faculty members who publish regularly in
\nhigh-visibility and high-impact journals, and that greatly
\nimproves our reputation amongst other universities,” Cyree
\nsaid. “We also get good feedback from people who hire our
\ntop graduates. I think we’ve done a good job in the
\nclassroom preparing our students for being successful.”
\n<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\nCyree hopes to increase the business school’s prestige even
\nfurther by 2017, its 100th anniversary.
\n<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n“I would like to see us ranked 75 or better,” he said.
\n<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\nTo achieve that goal, which will enhance the program’s
\nnational scholastic reputation, Cyree plans have faculty
\nmembers concentrate on publishing articles in high-quality
\njournals while keeping students’ coursework relevant and
\nrigorous.
\n<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n“The recognition of being named one of the top business
\nschools in the nation is a tribute to the school’s
\nunwavering commitment to excellence,” Stocks said. “Our
\nworld-class faculty and staff are dedicated to ensuring
\nthat our students enter the market ready to compete with
\nthe best in the world.”
\n<\/span>\n<\/p>\n
