OXFORD, Miss. – Tim Walsh has been appointed interim executive director
\nof Alumni Affairs at the University of Mississippi effective July 1.
\nExecutive Director Warner Alford, who has held the post since 2004,
\nretires June 30.<\/p>\n

A member of the Alumni Affairs staff since
\n1990, Walsh is senior associate director of Alumni Affairs and
\nassociate dean for development for the School of Law. He was previously
\nassociate director of Alumni Affairs and major gifts officer for the
\nSchool of Law.<\/p>\n

Walsh also serves as campaign coordinator for the
\nongoing $20 million expansion project for The Inn at Ole Miss, of which
\nphase I is scheduled to open this summer.
\n

“Tim has the experience, the ability and the knowledge to do a great job for this association and university,” Alford said. “I’ve built a lasting friendship with him over the past four years while we worked for our alumni and on The Inn at Ole Miss expansion project. I’m proud of him and what he has accomplished.”<\/p>\n

Alford added that Walsh is well known and well liked after his many years of service to the Alumni Association, and he expects a seamless transition.<\/p>\n

“Warner and I have traveled many a mile together working on the expansion of The Inn at Ole Miss, as well as attending Ole Miss club meetings and other university events,” Walsh said. “He has been very supportive of me, and it is an honor to follow him as the alumni director of our state’s flagship institution. His love for and devotion to Ole Miss are contagious.”<\/p>\n

Walsh said he hopes to continue to increase Alumni Association membership numbers and active participation of alumni, friends and students in association activities from club meetings to reunions to travel opportunities.<\/p>\n

“We particularly need to find more ways to get our young alumni involved, and I hope to improve our programming for that group,” Walsh said. “I will benefit from working with a very talented alumni staff and a dedicated and passionate group of alumni volunteers.”<\/p>\n

A Memphis native, Walsh received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Ole Miss.<\/p>\n
