\"\"<\/a>University of Mississippi<\/a> alumnus Stephen Johnston produced and helped raise $15 million for the movie “Same Kind of Different as Me,” which opens in theaters this weekend.<\/p>\n

The movie was filmed in Jackson.<\/p>\n

Based on the New York Times bestselling book of the same name, the film stars Academy Award winners Renee Zellweger and Jon Voight and Oscar nominees Greg Kinnear and Djimon Hounsou. It is based on a true story.<\/p>\n

The story focuses on wealthy art dealer Ron Hall (Kinnear) and his wife, Debbie (Zellweger). The two are unhappily married, but their lives change when they befriend a homeless man named Denver (Hounsou).<\/p>\n

The film has earned an 83 percent positive audience score on Rotten Tomatoes, and Oxford residents can check it out starting today (Oct. 20) at Malco Oxford Studio Cinema on West Jackson Avenue.<\/p>\n
