OXFORD, Miss. – University of Mississippi faculty, staff and students,
\nalong with other members of the local community, have been invited by
\nCBS News to be on the Oxford campus Friday morning to be part of the
\nnetwork’s “The Early Show,” which will be broadcast live from inside
\nthe Student Union.<\/p>\n

“We would love to have an excited audience with ‘The Early Show’ anchor
\nHarry Smith,” said Allison Rakes, CBS broadcast associate, in an e-mail
\nlast week to the university. “This (presidential debate) is such a
\nhistorical event and election, and we really want the Ole Miss
\ncommunity to share their interest in the election on our broadcast!”<\/p>\n

Smith plans to interact with the audience during the show, which airs
\nnationally from 6 to 9 a.m. Both WCBI-4 in Columbus and WREG-3 in
\nMemphis air the 7-9 a.m. segment. The producers plan at least two,
\ntwo-minute segments allowing several Ole Miss students to be
\ninterviewed on national television.<\/p>\n

Visitors to the show should be in place inside the Student Union by
\n5:30 a.m. The network is looking for “any students that have anything
\nthey want to show support for on national television, whether it be a
\npresidential candidate, sports team or organization,” Rakes said.<\/p>\n

She encourages audience members to bring “signs of support for the
\ncandidates, school spirit, school colors, sports uniforms – anything
\nthat represents the Ole Miss community!” CBS News “wants a balance of
\nthe Ole Miss community,” encouraging different clubs and organizations
\nto participate.<\/p>\n
