OXFORD, Miss. – Timothy L. Walsh has been named executive director of
\nalumni affairs at the University of Mississippi. A search committee
\nselected by Chancellor Robert Khayat chose Walsh, who served as interim
\nexecutive director after Warner Alford retired July 1 from the position.<\/p>\n

A member of the Alumni Affairs staff since 1990, Walsh becomes
\nonly the fifth director to lead the association. Before 1947, the
\nhighest position, alumni secretary, was elected annually.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

“I am grateful to Chancellor Khayat and to the members of the search
\ncommittee for their confidence in me,” Walsh said. “I look forward to
\nworking with our alumni and friends to strengthen our great university
\nand alumni association.”<\/p>\n

Walsh previously served as senior
\nassociate director of the Ole Miss Alumni Association and associate
\ndean for development for the UM School of Law. He also serves as
\ncampaign coordinator for the ongoing $20 million expansion at The Inn
\nat Ole Miss, of which the first of a three-phase project opened in
\nAugust.<\/p>\n

“Tim Walsh is a bright, energetic, capable young man,” Khayat
\nsaid. “He is totally dedicated to Ole Miss, and we are confident he
\nwill provide outstanding leadership for our Alumni Association.”<\/p>\n

A native of Memphis, Walsh graduated from Christian Brothers
\nHigh School and received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the
\nuniversity.<\/p>\n
