OXFORD, Miss. \u2013 Jonathan Mooney, award-winning writer, entrepreneur and activist, is the keynote speaker for this year’s Access Awards at the University of Mississippi<\/a>. <\/p>\n

Mooney will speak at the Access Awards luncheon, an event that recognizes one faculty member and one staff member who stand out as advocates for those who have disabilities, at 11:30 a.m. Thursday (April 18) in the Student Union Ballroom. The event is free and open to the public.<\/p>\n

The luncheon ceremony is part of Disability History Month<\/a>, a multievent observance in which the Office of Student Disability Services<\/a> raises awareness on inclusion and equity.<\/p>\n

“Disability History Month is a time in which we focus on understanding disability and raising awareness about disability as a civil rights issue,” said Corey Blount, assistant director of Student Disability Services. “Student Disability Services hosts events that highlight individuals’ experiences with disability, and to promote equity and inclusion on campus.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
