S. Narasimha Murthy<\/p><\/div>\n

OXFORD, Miss. \u2013 S. Narasimha Murthy, professor of pharmaceutics and drug delivery at the University of Mississippi<\/a> School of Pharmacy<\/a>, delivered a lecture recently at the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine in Washington, D.C.<\/p>\n

His May 20 talk, titled “Topical Products for Dermal and Transdermal Delivery of Pain Medications,” focused on challenges in formulating topical pain creams. NASEM invited Murthy and other stakeholders to provide expert opinions on topical pain creams as part of its study on the safety and effectiveness of ingredients used in compounded products.<\/p>\n

The group will review the information gathered at the meeting, which was also webcast, to formulate research conclusions and recommendations for its forthcoming project, said Leigh Miles Jackson, director of the committee conducting the study. The panel included members of the Food and Drug Administration, health care providers, patients and representatives from medical foundations.<\/p>\n

“The committee greatly enjoyed Dr. Murthy’s presentation and is grateful for his support of its work,” Jackson said.<\/p>\n

Murthy has conducted research in the field of topical drug delivery for more than two decades. He has published more than 100 research papers and authored two books on the subject.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
