OXFORD, Miss. – The author of the new book “The New Case Against
\nImmigration: Legal and Illegal” plans to discuss immigration in general
\nduring a Wednesday night lecture at the University of Mississippi
\nSchool of Law.<\/p>\n

The address by Mark Krikorian begins at 7 p.m. in the Lamar Law
\nCenter’s William N. Ethridge Moot Court Room. Krikorian is executive
\ndirector of the Center for Immigration Studies, a nonprofit,
\nnonpartisan research organization in Washington, D.C.
\n
<\/p>\n

\nThe free, public event is sponsored by the law school’s chapter of the Federalist Society, a group of conservative and libertarian lawyers and law students promoting the exchange of ideas.<\/p>\n

Third-year law student Holly Sawardecker of Jackson, events chair of the society, said the Ole Miss chapter is trying to promote discussion on tough topics.<\/p>\n

“We decided to sponsor this speaker because immigration is a hot-button issue at the moment, and we feel there is a need for increased discussion on the subject,” she said. “The first step in resolution of issues is discussion. It is our position that by hosting a speaker who supports one view, and opening it to people of all viewpoints, we can exchange ideas and educate one another on the issues.”<\/p>\n

Krikorian, who also is to speak to law students Thursday (Oct. 30), frequently testifies before Congress and has published articles in The Washington Post, The New York Times and other publications.\n<\/p>\n
