OXFORD, Miss. – The University of Mississippi United Way campaign coordinators encourage the public to participate in a fundraiser breakfast in the Ole Miss Student Union Food Court Friday (Nov. 21).<\/p>\n
The event runs 7:30-9:30 a.m. and costs $5 per person, on a cash basis.<\/p>\n
“This event is part of our effort to raise at least $125,000 of the
\nUnited Way’s communitywide goal of $425,000,” said Lucile McCook,
\nPullen Herbarium curator and campus committee co-chair. “The community
\nis counting on us to do our share.”<\/p>\n
Ole Miss Catering is
\nproviding the food at no cost to the campus campaign. The menu includes
\nscrambled eggs, grits, sausage, biscuits, gravy, fresh whole fruit,
\nmuffins, Danish pastry, coffeecake, breakfast breads, orange juice and
\ncoffee (regular and decaf).\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0<\/p>\n
“All proceeds will go to our
\nlocal United Way,” said Thelma Curry, University Police Department
\nofficer and campus committee co-chair. “Thanks to Ole Miss Catering for
\nbeing so generous.”<\/p>\n
More than 95 percent of the money raised for
\nUnited Way stays in Lafayette County to help fund local charities,
\nincluding the Pantry, Interfaith Compassion Ministry, American Red
\nCross, Crisis Services, Meals on Wheels, Boys & Girls Clubs, Leap
\nFrog, Salvation Army, Boy Scouts of America and Girl Scouts of America.<\/p>\n
The university’s drive for the United Way is slated for completion Dec. 8.<\/p>\n
