JACKSON, Miss. (AP) — Census figures show poverty has been rising among Mississippi children, with nearly one in every three living below the poverty line. The recent figures show that Mississippi’s child poverty rate of 31 percent is higher than any other state’s. That’s up from 30.4 percent in 2008.
